New Year, New Morning Routine

Let's face it mornings can be hectic. With the new year just around the corner, it's time to declutter your life and jump start your morning routine with a little extra touch of "namaste". Here are five simple steps to make your morning more productive in 2017. Enjoy!

1. Wake Up Earlier

Getting at least seven hours of sleep is essential to good health. The benefits of proper sleep are amazing for personal health including more memory, creativity, less stress, less fat retention, and inflammation. Wow!

 Try waking up earlier by calling it lights out a half hour earlier. Your mind should feel more awake in the morning and you should feel less groggy. 

2. Drink Water

Water should be the first thing you drink in the morning..not coffee. It seems simple but you would be surprised how many adults out there that forget to do this. After you've had some morning water, you can drink your much needed cup of coffee or whatever else you drink for some caffeine. Leave a glass or water bottle on top of your nightstand the night before so it is readily available.

3. Make The Bed

When you hop up out of bed, just quickly make it. Don’t let yourself walk away without making it. It doesn’t take very long and it’s one small thing that makes a HUGE difference in your perspective and mood for the day.  

4. Eat a Healthy Breakfast

In America, we tend to go for convenience rather than health and nutrition. Especially in the mornings when we are pressed for time. Instead of leaving the door without anything in your stomach budget enough time to easy a nutritious breakfast. Overnight oats are filling and nutritious and you can make them in a wide variety of flavors. 

5. Do Something For Yourself

Build into your morning routine something that makes you feel good every morning. It can be as simple s a morning walk or happy little dance around your house. The key is to engage in something that makes you feel more energized or motivated to start your day.

A few activity ideas to get you started:

  • Pray or Meditate
  • Exercise or Stretch
  • Dance or Walk The Dog
  • Read or Journal
